Manuscript submission

We will happily read any manuscript submitted to us provided it is:

In English
A Microsoft Word document
A short story
A novella
A novel
A screenplay (TV or film)

and it is in one of the following genres:

Crime
Action
Thriller
Horror
Science-fiction
Fantasy

Please do NOT send us stage plays, poetry, romance, historical novels or non-fiction. Nothing against those genres, but we do not know enough about them to be able to provide an accurate assessment of their quality.

Why should you send us your manuscript in the first place?

We know from bitter first hand experience that relatives and friends (real or so-called) are useless as judges of manuscript quality. They will either enthuse out of politeness, or, worse, they will rubbish the manuscript because they don't want to see you get ahead and do something they are too talentless or lazy to do themselves.

We don't know you at all. We won't be polite. We will be honest, in the nicest possible way. We will be the detached, objective viewpoint that is so hard to gain from the people we know.

If we like your manuscript, we would be happy to try and take it further. The services we can provide are formatting, proof-reading, editing, adapting for screen (if necessary) and submission to agents and publishers.

In other words, you can get on with writing another work and leave all the boring, nit-picking stuff to us.

If we don't like your work, we will respond, telling you what we felt was wrong with it. Of course, all such opinions are subjective, but they do provide some valuable feedback which you may want to address before sending the manuscript somewhere else.

And between us, we do have nearly one hundred year's experience of reading, writing and watching crime, thrillers, science-fiction and horror.

Send us your manuscript using the link below and we will read it FOR FREE!
Your manuscript is and remains your intellectual property and is by default copyrighted to you. We have no rights in in whatsoever.
Your manuscript will be read by both the directors of Blind Samurai and you will receive a reply within 14 days.
If we don't like it, we will email you a fairly detailed critique explaining what we feel is wrong with it. We will delete our copy of the manuscript. That's it.
If we like the manuscript, we will contact you to suggest further services we can offer e.g. formatting, proof-reading, editing, adaptation. In other words, anything that can advance the manuscript to publication or filming. At this stage we will discuss cost and terms on an individual basis.
